Sample library services

Resource Reset

From cluttered to curated.

Sample and resource library assessments, resets, and monthly care for interior design and architecture firms. Built around how your team actually works.

An organized design-firm sample library with fabrics on one side and hard finishes on the other

5 signs your library needs a reset

How long does it take your team to find a sample?

  1. 1Discontinued samples are still on the shelf.
  2. 2Samples live in more than one place.
  3. 3Nothing gets filed back.
  4. 4Reps can't find their own section.
  5. 5Your team shops showrooms instead of your library.

Two or more? Your library is costing your team time.

The method

Every Reset starts with one simple split: hard and soft.

Tile, stone, wood, and metal on one side. Fabric, leather, wallcovering, and trim on the other. Within each, materials are grouped by vendor or showroom, then by color, pattern, texture, or material.

It's the system Cantoni, Rottet Studio, and GeorgeCameronNash all relied on, and it makes re-filing easy between visits. But every firm is different, so the system is tailored to yours.

Library Reset

What actually happens during a Reset?

1

Team buy-in.

I meet your team to learn how they search for materials and what frustrates them now.

2

Measure and plan.

A layout for your space, reusing existing shelving and bins when possible. 3D plan available on request.

3

Consolidate and purge.

Every vendor in one place, reviewed one at a time. Discontinued items come out.

4

Organize, label, hand off.

A system built for your firm, plus labels for every shelf and bin, a library binder (printed and as a shareable PDF), a one-page guide, and a 30-day follow-up.

Material samples arranged in a neat grid

Inside a Reset

Where do discontinued samples go?

  1. Back to the rep. Many manufacturers want their samples back. I coordinate the returns.
  2. To design students. Usable samples go to local design schools when possible.
  3. To a recycler. Tile, stone, metal, and many fabrics can be recycled instead of thrown out.
  4. The trash, as a last resort. Only what can't be returned, donated, or recycled. We work hard to avoid it.

Case study

Rebuilding a Houston luxury showroom's sample library.

Samples were everywhere, and not all of them current. The library was measured, drawn, and specified, purged one vendor at a time, then rebuilt with hard materials on one side and soft on the other.
